There is a great lesson to be learned when things do not go as planed. Not only is it good practice to learn resilience, but if you are paying attention, things that may seem to be wrong can be perfectly right.
Today was a great example of that for me. I was all excited that I had gotten another gig on the set on a film, but found out in the morning it was not a gig with pay. It was donated time for a picture with a cause. I was moved to take on the job. To top it off, it was like 6 hours late, but what the heck, it was for a good cause, so I stuck to my decision.
Well, on my way in I won 75$ at the casino, and had a good long talk with the casting agent, and was put on a list for future work in the industry. While I was there, another extra talent background actor and I got to talking. They are a life coach, and we had some very similar concepts of helping people, and it might work out into a longer term business association with other business adventures I am involved in.
The production I was invited to participate in has an award winning crew, and I will get credits in the film. Lots of upside to this day which initially could have been considered a downer. I mean waking up late to discover a delay, the down became an up. Found out I do not get paid today, but later that I will be getting credits for my resume. Running into a potential business associate from my home town. A long drive that got me 75$ at a casino. So today has been a great example of finding the upside to the downside.
